Intensive English for Lawyers 1 is intended for everybody who has a special interest in law and needs to use the English of the law for their studies or work. In particular, it is for practicing lawyers, law students and academic lawyers at universities and law schools. The purpose of Intensive English for Lawyers 2 is to teach native speakers of other languages to comprehend and employ the language of the law in English. In particular it aims to teach foreign law students and lawyers how to select, interpret and utilize original legal materials of any kind in English in the course of their studies, research or work. Through an extensive variety of exercises based on authentic legal texts, readers will progressively learn the reading, vocabulary and study skills indispensable to work independently on legal materials of their own choice. Intensive English for Lawyers 1 presents about 400 general and specialized law terms, and teaches techniques for building up systematically a wide legal vocabulary in fields of special interest to the learners. Learners will be encouraged to practice the language presented throughout the course in a variety of speaking and writing activities.
